Movie Review: Dog Soldiers

Neil Marshall has made some inspired horror films—top of the list has to be The Descent—but he’s also made some shockers, too, and not in he way cinematic nature intended; Doomsday, for example, the 2008 science fiction action film set in an apocalyptic Scotland, was made with an enormous budget but transpired to be laugh-out-loud bad.

It took me a while to get into Gavin and Stacey; at first I couldn’t really see what all the fuss was about, but then, after a while, I warmed to it, started to care about the characters, and generally could see the appeal. I never fell in love with it like the rest of the country apparently has, but I could see where it was coming from at least, and I liked what it was trying to do.
